On March 5-8, Mound native Andy Young fished at Lake Tahoe in the first event of the Walmart FLW (Fishing League Worldwide) Tour. This tour includes 154 top professional bass-fishers and will include six tournaments running through the end of June.
This, his first season on the FLW Tour, is the next step after Young quit his job in December to pursue professional fishing full-time.
He first started to fish in bass tournaments in 1996 in the Lake Minnetonka area, but Young’s passion for fishing began much earlier.
Born in Hawaii, he used to go fishing with his dad.
“I’ve been in love with fishing since I was 2,” he said.
“Throw in the competition and it just gets your blood flowing,” he added.
